One Man's Story

Jay Miles worked many years in the environmental field and specialized in ornithology.  His love of nature and the out of doors has been portrayed through his carvings.  He began carving in the 1970’s as a hobby which ultimately progressed into a full time occupation.  Carving and working with wood to him is a form of joy and relaxation.  His wooden sculptures includes owls, shorebirds, decoys and weathervanes although he has also been active in carving southwestern folk art, such as, kachinas and Santos of the 19th/20th century era.
