Old Miniature Decoy
Carl Malstrom, Saint George, Maine, circa 1930
Carl Malstrom was the descendant of a family of stone cutters who settled in St. George, Maine in the late 19th century. Carl's father and brother were also carvers. Carl was famous for his carved ship eagles and miniature decoys. This northern shoveler drake is a rare species for him and we know of no other. It has his paper label on the bottom reading: "Carl Malstrom, St. George, Maine". The miniature is in excellent original condition and superbly painted. Measurements: 7 1/2"L x 2"W x 2 1/2"H.
