Folk Art Black-bellied Plover Shorebird Decoy
Jay Miles, Wells, Maine, circa 2008
This is a carving of a hollow black-bellied plover in breeding (spring) plumage. It is carved life-size (10 1/2"L) and is very full-bodied (3"W). Jay Miles carved this decoy to represent a "running" shorebird and mounted it on a carved clam shell base. Glass eyes and carved and raised primaries. Miles brand on bottom of base.
